HCL sets up unit for reselling SAP R/3HCL Infosystems has set up an Enterprise Software Organisation, a dedicated sales infrastructure with trained sales and pre-sales resources across the country. The initiative is meant to address the ERP market. The ESO has entered an alliance with SAP and will function as a value-added reseller for SAP R/3.
It will also undertake product demonstrations, product positioning, advising customers on pricing, ensuring delivery of the software, customer satisfaction and client service management. This tieup will help HCL Insys to move towards becoming a full-fledged, single-window SAP enterprise solutions vendor. Estimates indicate significant potential for SAP in the small and med-sized enterprise segment, a sizeable part of which is located in cities other than the four metros. Through ESO, HCL Insys will leverage its experience in SAP and extend its reach to make inroads into this market, said General Manager (marketing) Sharad Talwar. "SAP has had considerable success in the small and mid-size enterprise segment. Our partnership with HCL Insys will enable us to leverage the vast reach of its sales and implementation infrastructure and will further strengthen our position in the small and mid-size market segment. Our business model for this market is based on partnerships and we are indeed pleased to partner with the company that has a repository of valuable experience of our product offering," said SAP India Managing Director Ruth Connolly. The alliance is an extension of a long-standing relationship between the two companies. HCL Insys has already been a national implementation partner for SAP in India since 1996, having partnered with it as infrastructure provider for almost 35 sites and as an implementation and other service provider for over 10 sites. HCL Insys' Professional Services Organisation runs a dedicated SAP centre of excellence with over 100 trained professionals engaged in SAP consultancy and implementation services in India and abroad. The company has been involved with several SAP implementation projects such as General Motors (I) Limited, Kalyani Brakes, Hindustan Motors' Lancer car, Samsung India Electronics and Sterlite Industries.
