Oracle to target smaller businesses in IndiaAs a part of its strategy to expand into the upcountry market, Oracle Software India Limited today announced a tie-up with Godrej Pacific Technology Limited to market and support Oracle servers, tools and Internet products."Through this relationship with GPTL, Oracle is giving a conscious thrust to the upcountry market and would cater to the small and medium segments," Oracle Country Manager Shekhar Dasgupta said here.
Dasgupta said Oracle has grown at the rate of 45 per cent in the last three years. Oracle expects to maintain this growth rate if the Indian economy continues to grow between 5 and 6 per cent. However, in the event of a pick-up in the economy, the world's second largest software company hopes to grow at an impressive 80 per cent. He said the small and medium enterprises segment has remained untapped for Oracle: "Now we want to tap this area and grow." Oracle Software India is a subsidiary of Oracle Corporation, USA, and markets its products and services through its offices in Bangalore, Calcutta, Madras, Hyderabad, Bombay and New Delhi. It also operates in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal through its partners. UNI |
