"As the Tata Cellular network expands, subscribers can make TCD calls to all other locations in Andhra Pradesh," a company spokesperson said in Hyderabad. He said the company's vision is to make cellular telephony a common means of communication within Andhra Pradesh.

"Tata Cellular is rapidly working towards setting up a digital backbone network all across the state. This network will provide the platform for complete connectivity and accessibility and TCD is the first step in that direction," the spokesperson said.

TCD rates have been structured into two time bands called business hours (8 am to 7 pm) and family hours (7 pm to 8 am). The savings during the family hours could be as much as 57 per cent over the STD between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, while it would be 11 per cent between the two cities during business hours.

TCD rates are inclusive of air-time charges. For operating TCD, no fresh deposit will be required nor any access fee levied on all regular Tata Cellular subscribers, the spokesperson said.
