'Japan's software talent shortage is opportunity for India'

Of late, the Japanese market is shifting from proprietary to open systems and Indian software companies can cash in on the trend, the Electronic and Computer Software Exports Promotion Council has pointed out.

relatively smaller firms too, the ESC, quoted a Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry statement.

The shortage of Japanese information software manpower could near a million by 2000. In 1990, the shortage of software professionals in Japan was 251,000 and in 1995 it rose to 512,000. Indian software professionals, if trained in Japanese, can gain from the situation, experts are confident.
