Haryana firm bags electronic poll list job

The Election Commission has assigned the task of preparing software for computerising electoral rolls to the Haryana State Electronics Development Corporation, Minister of State for Electronics Bhim Sain Mehta has said.

The EC will carry out a pilot test in a district of Haryana before implementing it in the rest of the country, he explained.

concept of a 'visitor photo pass system'.

The system has been installed at the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, union home ministry, and the central provident fund commissioner.

Various steps have been taken to implement information technology at the Telecommunication Complex at Gurgaon.

The project, likely to be completed within four years, will crystallise investment in computer and software industry to the tune of Rs 1 billion, he claimed.

Mehta said that the corporation has already constructed 40 independent sheds in Electronics City, Gurgaon. Twenty-five 25 more sheds are at an advanced stage of construction are likely to be completed by the end of March. The completed sheds are being offered on lease to electronics and related industry, he added.

He said that HARTRON has so far initiated 20 commercial projects for setting up businesses in joint or assisted sectors. These projects are in alliances with private entrepreneurs having a total investment and turnover of Rs 2.45 billion and Rs 4.41 billion respectively when in full production.

The buy-back of HARTRON equity in two projects has already been enforced as per the agreement, he said.

Mehta said that the corporation has been providing training to unemployed youth to enable them to take up jobs in the growing electronics and computer industry. Their franchise computer training centres have been set up all over the state.
