** At the end of his knock of 117 runs Sachin Tendulkar has taken his career batting average to 59.17 runs per innings. Now among the 163 batsmen who have over 2500 Test career runs only Australian Don Bradman (6996 runs, avg. 99.94) and Englishman Herbert Sutcliffe (4555 runs, avg. 60.73) have a higher batting average than Tendulkar in Test cricket history.

** For the first time after six innings, Tendulkar has been dismissed by a pace bowler, however his 'lbw' dismissal to Cuffy was his fourth in as many innings.

** The catch of Ajay Ratra, gave Junior Murray his 100th dismissal (97ct+3st) in 31 matches as a keeper. He becomes the fourth West Indian keeper, after Jeff Dujon, Deryck Murray and Ridley Jacobs, and the 28th keeper in Test cricket history to reach this landmark.

** Ratra who became the 30th player to keep wickets for India in Tests, is now the second youngest keeper at 20 years, 128 days after Budhi Kunderan. The latter was 20 years, 91 days when he made his debut against Australia in January 1960 at the Brabourne Stadium, Bombay. However Ratra, becomes the youngest to keep wickets for India in an away Test match bettering the previous record held by Vijay Manjrekar, who was 21 years, 184 days, when he was forced to keep wickets for India against West Indies at Kingston in March 1953. For the record, Probir Sen (a genuine keeper), was 21 years, 215 days when he kept wickets for India against Australia at Melbourne in January 1948.

** Meanwhile, Ratra became the second Indian keeper after Jenni Irani (v Australia at Brisbane in November 1947) to register a duck in his debut innings.

** Curiously, in four innings in this series none of the wicket-keepers have been able to open their respective accounts - Murray (twice), Deep Dasgupta and Ratra - have all recorded ducks in this series.

** For Murray, it was his third duck in four innings. It was also his 9th duck of his career, thus making the keeper with maximum zeros for the West Indies. Former teammate Jeff Dujon had eight such scores during his career.
