Laxman may play second ODI
March 14, 2004 19:30 IST
India's V V S Laxman, who missed Saturday's first one-day international against Pakistan due to a knee injury, is likely to be fit for the second match of the series on Tuesday.
Laxman was ruled out at the last minute in Karachi due to stiffness in his left knee and missed an extraordinary game which India won by five runs in a thrilling finale after amassing 349 for seven.
"We are expecting Laxman to be fit," India's coach John Wright told reporters on Sunday.
"He has no trouble at all with his batting, but it's his fielding we're a little worried about."
Laxman was one of only four Indian players who attended an optional nets session on Sunday.
The stylish Hyderabad batsman had scored three centuries in a one-day tournament in Australia earlier this year.
If Laxman passes the fitness test on Tuesday, he is likely to be included in place of left-hander Hemang Badani.
