First Indian to score a triple

Rajneesh Gupta | March 29, 2004 16:02 IST

Virender Sehwag became the first Indian and the 17th batsman in Test cricket history to score a triple ton in the Multan Test. Sehwag surpassed VVS Laxman's 281 (v Australia, Kolkata, 2000-01), which was the previous highest innings by an Indian player.

The accompanying table lists the triple-centurions in Test cricket. England's Andrew Sandham was the first to do so. Australia's Don Bradman is the only batsman in Test cricket to score two triple centuries. Sehwag, however, is the only one to have reached the mark with a six.
