The Australian cricket board may reconsider its upcoming tour of India if a television rights dispute is not resolved, the Indian board told a court hearing into the case on Monday.

The first of the four Tests is due to start on October 6, but there is uncertainty whether the games will be broadcast because of a court dispute over TV rights awarded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the next four years.

India's largest listed media firm, Zee telefilms, were this month conditionally given the rights for a massive $308 million. But their main rival, ESPN-Star Sports, is contesting the award mainly on grounds of eligibility.

Cricket Australia (CA) have written to the BCCI saying they might "reconsider coming to India" if the matches were not broadcast because of CA's contractual obligations with sponsors, BCCI's lawyer told the Bombay High Court.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has already told the Indian board it needs to provide television pictures for third umpire decisions to go ahead with the series.
