Rajneesh Gupta | April 16, 2005 12:23 IST

- This match was the 100th one-day international between India and Pakistan.

- This provided the fourth instance of a century of contests between any two sides in ODIs. Australia and West Indies [Images] have played 108 matches against each other -- maximum by any two sides in ODIs, followed by 103 matches between Pakistan and Sri Lanka [Images], and 102 matches between Pakistan and West Indies.

- Pakistan thus became first side to play 100 or more matches against three countries

- Rahul Dravid [Images] captained India for the 11th time in a match. It was, however, the first time he was performing this duty against Pakistan.

- Virender Sehwag [Images] and Sachin Tendulkar [Images] became the second Indian pair to aggregate 2,000 runs for the opening wicket. Their tally stands at 2,001 runs at an average of 47.64 in 42 innings at the end of this match.

- The 135-run partnership between Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Kaif is India's highest for the fifth wicket against Pakistan. The pair bettered their own stand of 118 made at Karachi on 13-03-2004.

- Rahul Dravid's 86 is the highest innings by any Indian captain against Pakistan on Indian soil. He bettered Krish Srikkanth's 65 at Kolkata (Calcutta) on 20-10-1989 in a Nehru Cup match.

- The innings was also the highest for Dravid as a captain putting into shade his 59 against Australia at Mumbai on 01-11-2003.

- Dravid completed his 8,000 runs for India when his score reached 46. He became the fourth Indian to do so after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly [Images] and Mohammad Azharuddin.

- Mohammad Kaif (78) made his highest score against Pakistan beating an unbeaten 71 at Lahore [Images] on 21-03-2004. It was also his highest score in India, bettering his 68 against Zimbabwe at Hyderabad on 16-03-2002.

- Shahid Afridi [Images] (102 off 46 balls) took only 20 balls to race to his half-century, the fastest against India. The previous record was held by Zimbabwe's Douglas Marillier (off 21 balls) at Faridabad on 07-03-2002.

- Afridi has now scored a half-century off 20 or less balls on three occasions. The other such occasions being - off 18 balls vs Sri Lanka at Nairobi Gym on 04-10-1996 and vs Netherlands at Colombo SSC on 21-09-2002. No other batsman has managed to score a 20-ball half-century on more than one occasion.

- Afridi's hundred came off only 45 balls, which is the joint second fastest hundred in ODIs after his 37-ball hundred against Sri Lanka at Nairobi on 04-10-1996) and along with Brian Lara [Images], who had also taken 45 balls for his hundred against Bangladesh at Dhaka on 09-10-1999.

- This is now the fastest hundred against India. The previous record was held by another Pakistani Ijaz Ahmed, who needed 68 balls to race to three-figure mark at Lahore on 02-10-1997.

- During his innings Afridi also became the first batsman to hit 200 sixes in shorter version of the game when he hit Zaheer Khan [Images] over mid-wicket boundary for his sixth six.

- Afridi has now made 50-plus scores against India on six occasions including two hundreds. On all the six occasions his strike rate was more than 100. Pakistan have won five matches out of these six. Their only loss was at Karachi on 30-09-1997 when Afridi scored his maiden fifty against India.
