John Wright [Images] has indicated that he may not seek an extension of his contract as coach of the Indian team, saying the Board of Control for Cricket in India is likely to look for someone who will coach the side till the 2007 World Cup.

"But I am not in a position to do it," said Wright on Wednesday, indicating he is not in favour of an extension of the contract which ends in May.

"We will concentrate on the ensuing series [against Pakistan] and other things will fall in place," he said on the sidelines of the Duleep Trophy match between West Zone and South Zone being played in Hyderabad.

Wright said he expects the series against Pakistan to be tougher than the one between the arch-rivals last year.

"The series now is more serious in nature and it's going to be a tough one unlike the earlier Friendship Series. The players will live upto their reputations on both sides and it will be a good series ahead.

"It's always good to get back-to-back wins against Pakistan and that should be at the back of our mind while the series is on," Wright said.

He expressed happiness to see Sachin Tendulkar [Images] return to action.

"It's good to see Sachin Tendulkar back in the match and I'm happy to watch him progress well. He has been working hard and feels comfortable which should be a good sign," he said.

"He is an experienced player and knows the basics well. He is comfortable. He is a good player and knows about his fittness and is responsible enough."

Wright said with pace bowlers likely to pay an important role in the coming series, they need to work on their run-up and curtail no-balls.

"Batsmen must also try to occupy the crease for more time and get good scores which always gives good results."

On the composition of the team for the upcoming series, he said, "It's for the Board to decide."
