March 30, 2005 10:56 IST
India missed out on a chance to take the second spot in the ICC Test championship ranking after losing the third and final Test match against Pakistan on March 28.
The loss meant that India, who needed to win the Test to leapfrog England [Images] for the second spot, dropped one ranking point -- from 108 to 107 -- as the series finished at 1-1
They remained third in the official ICC [Images] table behind Australia and England while Pakistan stayed in fifth place, an ICC release said in London [Images] Tuesday.
But the victory in the final Test helped Pakistan improving its point tally from 101 to 102.

The performance in the final Test also saw Indian vice captain Rahul Dravid [Images] slipped down from the top spot in the ICC Test Batting Rankings.Dravid, on the second place, will, however, regain the top position if South African Jacques Kallis [Images] does not have a good series with the bat in the West Indies [Images], the release said.
Pakistan vice-captain Younis Khan has entered the top ten on the list for the first time after his 351 runs in two innings helped Pakistan to victory at Bangalore.
Younis is now ninth in the ICC rankings, with Inzamam-ul Haq one place ahead of him. The climb of these two batsmen means that Sachin Tendulkar [Images] drops out of the top ten.
