• Rahul Dravid [Images] on 34 completed his 9,000 runs in one-day international matches for India in his 279^th match -- only the fourth Indian after Sachin Tendulkar [Images] (14146 runs in 362 matches), Sourav Ganguly [Images] (10101 runs in 278 matches) and Mohammad Azharuddin (9378 runs in 334 matches). It must be noted that Dravid's ODI career run-aggregate after this match is 9133 in 283 matches, but 121 of these runs came for combined teams (viz Asian XI / World XI).

• Mohammad Kaif registered his fourth duck in five innings. His last five scores in ODIs have been -- 0,0,4,0,0. This is the worst performance by any Indian batsman in any span of five consecutive innings. Overall Kaif became only the seventh batsman (on eighth occasion) to make four ducks in five innings. England's [Images] Craig White achieved this dubious distinction twice.

• Yuvraj Singh [Images] (103 off 76 balls) scored his seventh ODI hundred -- his first against England.

• Yuvraj reached his hundred off just 73 balls. This is the fastest ODI hundred made against England. Yuvraj bettered teammate Virender Sehwag's [Images] record, who had taken 77 balls to reach the three-figure mark at Colombo RPS on 22-09-2002.

• Yuvraj has now moved ahead of Navjot Sidhu, VVS Laxman and Ajay Jadeja and equalled Mohammad Azharuddin and Virender Sehwag's tally of centuries. For India now only Sachin Tendulkar (39), Sourav Ganguly (22) and Rahul Dravid (11) have scored more centuries than Yuvraj.

• Yuvraj's innings is the highest for any batsman on this ground, obliterating VVS Laxman's 101 against Australia on 06-04-2001.

• The fifth wicket partnership of 142 runs between Yuvraj and Raina is India's best for this wicket against England in all matches. The pair put into shade the previous record stand of 131 (unbroken) between Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj at Lord's on 29-06-2002.

• The above partnership is also the best for the fifth wicket for any side against England. The previous best was 139-run partnership between Viv Richards [Images] and Colis King in 1979 World Cup final at Lord's.

• India's total of 294 for six is the highest score by any side on this ground. The previous highest was Australia's 269 for six against India on 06-04-2001.

• The seventh wicket partnership of 105 runs between Paul Collingwood [Images] and Geraint Jones is England's best for this wicket against India, obliterating the 92-run partnership between Michael Vaughan [Images] and Ashley Giles at Lord's on 05-09-2004.

• Collingwood and Jones, in fact, just failed to expunge England's all-time record seventh wicket stand. Collingwood along with Craig White had added 110 runs against Sri Lanka [Images] at Perth on 20-12-2002.

• Irfan Pathan [Images] (4-51) registered his best figures against England. His previous best was 3-21 at Delhi on 28-03-2006 in the first match of this series.

• The win was India's seventh in as many matches. They are now heading towards their best ever run of consecutive victories. India had won 8 matches on a trot on two occasions - in 1985 and 2003.

• Yuvraj Singh won his 12^th Man of the Match award -- second against England. Yuvraj's other MoM performance against England had come at Lord's on 29-06-2002 where he scored an unbeaten 64 besides capturing 3 for 39.

• Munaf Patel [Images] became 163^rd player to represent India in One-day internationals. He also became the fifth 'Patel' after Brijesh Patel (10 matches from 1974 to 1979), Ashok Patel (8 matches in 1984-85), Rashid Patel (1 match in 1988-89) and Parthiv Patel (14 matches from 2002-03 to 2004) to play for India.

• Sajid Mahmood was making a return to England side after a gap of about 21 months. His only other appearance for England was in a NatWest Series match against New Zealand [Images] at Bristol on 04-07-2004.
