-India, by winning the Kochi ODI, got a world record on their name. The victory gave India their 15^th consecutive successful chase - one more than West Indies [Images], the previous record holder, had managed between 1984-85 and 1986-87. The last time India had lost a match while chasing was against New Zealand [Images] at Bulawayo on August 26, 2005. The accompanying table lists the most consecutive successful chases in ODIs:

-India have now won eight matches at a trot (last four matches of five-match series against Pakistan in February 2006 and four matches in this series), which equals their best run in ODIs. India had also won 8 matches between 1984-85 and 1985-86 and in 2002-03.

-India have now won five consecutive matches against England. Apart from four matches in the current series, India had also beaten England at Lord's on 05-09-2004. The sequence of five consecutive wins is the best in India - England rivalry. England between 1974 and 1981 and India between 1999 and 2002 had won four matches in a row.

-The victory gave India an unbeatable 4-0 lead in the series. The last time India had beaten England in a bilateral series at home was way back in 1981-82 when India won three-match series 2-1. Since then India had lost to England 1-4 in 1984-85 and drawn 3-3 in 1992-93 and 2001-02.

-Rahul Dravid has now taken his career batting average to 45.58 as India's captain, which is the highest for any player who has captained his country in at least 10 matches. Dravid went ahead of Pakistan's Inzamam-ul-Haq [Images], who has scored 2320 runs for his country at an average of 45.49

-Yuvraj Singh won his second successive award in the series and his third against England. He now holds the distinction of winning most MoM awards for India against England, moving ahead of Dilip Vengsarkar, Kapil Dev, Ravi Shastri, Mohammad Azharuddin, Navjot Sidhu, Sourav Ganguly and Virender Sehwag [Images], who have won two awards each for India.

-Andrew Strauss fell to Irfan Pathan [Images] for the third time in four innings in the series. More importantly, it was the 21^st time Pathan was dismissing a batsman LBW in his short career in which he has captured 97 wickets. Among all the bowlers who have taken 50 wickets or more in ODIs, Pathan's LBW percentage of 21.64 is the second best after England's Mark Ealham's 22.38 (15 LBWs in 67 dismissals).

-Mohammad Kaif (5) once again failed to make any substantial contribution to the team's total. His scores in last 10 matches read as: 16*,8,5*,0,0,4,0,0,5.

-Umpire K Hariharan [Images] was officiating in his 27^th match on Indian soil- most by any umpire. He surpassed AV Jayaprakash's tally of 26 matches.
