Mithali rises to 2nd in women's ODI rankings

India batter Mithali Raj [Images] moved up a rung to second spot, overtaking Australian Lisa Sthalekar, in the ICC [Images] Women's ODI Player rankings issued on Friday.

Mithali scored 59 against England [Images] and 75 not out against Sri Lanka [Images] in the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup group stage matches to guide them into the Super Six stage.

England's Claire Taylor, following knocks of 101 against Sri Lanka and 69 not out against India, sits comfortably at the top with a career-best 825 points, the ICC said in a statement.

Among bowlers, England's Isa Guha leads the field by a distance. Guha had started the World Cup on 719 points and has gained 17 valuable points after the end of the group stage.

Indian skipper and pace spearhead Jhulan Goswami [Images] continues to be third in the list. Rumeli Dhar [Images] follows her at the eighth spot after moving up a rung.

Amita Sharma [Images] is the third Indian in top-20, rising two places to 17th in the list.
