Sixteen teams (10 Test-playing nations and six associate members of the International Cricket Council) are participating in the fifth edition of Youth (Under-19s ) World Cup tournament which will be played at six venues in Bangladesh from February 15 to March 5.
The first Under-19 tournament was played in 1987-88 in Australia and was known as 'McDonald's Bicentennial Youth World Cup in Australia, 1988'. The tournament got the 'official' tag from ICC with its second edition in 1997-98 and is being played on biennial basis since then.
Australia have won the tournament twice - in 1987-88 and 2001-02. England (1997-98) and India (1999-00) are the other countries, which have won the tournament.
