All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday denied tickets to her party's nine members of the dissolved Lok Sabha and brought in as many as 29 new faces, most of them district secretaries, to fight the coming polls.
Out of 11 party MPs, she gave tickets to only T T V Dinakaran from Periakulam and S Murugesan of Tenkasi.
The other two known figures in the list included O S Manian, a former Rajya Sabha member and 'Edapadi' Palanichamy, a former MP.
Manian has been fielded in Myladuthurai constituency, where he is expected to lock horns with Mani Shankar Aiyer of the Congress.
Under the seat-sharing agreement with its new ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party, the ruling AIADMK will contest 33 seats; it has given seven seats to its partner, including the lone Pondicherry seat.
In the list released by Revenue Minister O Panneerselvam, two women have been accommodated.
Former Tamil Nadu assembly speaker P H Pandiyan, party treasurer, Dindigul Srinivasan, leader of the AIADMK parliamentary party, R Saroja, former home secretary, K Malaichamy and former Union Minister Dalit Ezhilmalai are notable among those who have fallen from her grace.
The release of the list of candidates coincided with Jayalalithaa's 56th birthday.
