Telco to launch 9 new models

Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company is planning to launch 9 new products in the fully built buses market by September 2003.
Telco currently enjoys a 19.8 per share in the passenger commercial vehicles market. For the year ended March 2003, the company sold 10,216 buses.
Speaking at the launch of its latest pick up vehicle, TATA 207 DI, in the southern market, Shyam Mani, the general manager ( commercial vehicle sales), said: "Telco's pick up vehicle, TATA 207 DI, launched in the third week of August 2003, has increased its market share from 5.5 per cent to 17.5 per cent in the mid-sized utility car market."
TATA 207 DI is designed and marketed to meet the pick-up requirements of 28 different segments which predominantly includes food and food related stock. The new product comes in single cabin and crew cabin model. Both models are offered with power and mechanical steering.
The customer retail price of the new model will be between Rs 360,000 and Rs 420,000.
"The market size of pick trucks has grown from 13,000 numbers in 2001-02 to 23,000 in 2002-03. We expect a growth of 25 per cent during the current financial year," added Mani.
