Spectramind bags Microsoft BPO order
January 17, 2003 14:24 IST
Software major Wipro's IT enabled services business subsidiary Spectramind has bagged a Business Process Outsourcing order from global giant Microsoft, a top company official said on Friday.
Wipro Ltd vice-chairman and Wipro Technologies president Vivek Paul, while announcing the group's Q3 results at a press conference, however, declined to give details of the order.
"Microsoft is a great customer of Wipro," Paul said. "They deserve our full attention."
He, however, declined to share details of the order, citing "sensitivity" involved in the wake of voices in US against outsourcing being done outside that country.
The "depth of relationship" between Wipro and Microsoft would continue and it would see a further rise. "We can win big in the global market," he said.
Microsoft chief Bill Gates had during his visit to Wipro recently spoken about both joining hands for a "win-win situation."
Wipro chairman Azim Premji said Spectramind posted a revenue of $11.6 million for the quarter ended December 2002.
During the quarter, Spectramind signed Letter of Intent with two new customers. The total number of active customers during the quarter was nine as compared to eight for the quarter ended September 30, 2002.
