Cement, auto stocks up on buying interest

Buying in heavyweights, cement and auto sectors have gained momentum, and has pushed the Sensex further by 32 points to 3,719. The Nifty, too, has added seven points to 1,167.

Grasim has surged 3% (Rs 13) to Rs 513. Gujarat Ambuja and ACC are trading with gains of 3% each at Rs 206 (up Rs 6) and Rs 182 (up Rs 5), respectively. L&T, too, is up a notch at Rs 272.

BHEL, after a range-bound trading, has moved up 2% (Rs 6) to Rs 289. While SBI has added Rs 6 to Rs 416, HPCL is up a rupee at Rs 353. MTNL, however, is down a rupee at Rs 112.

Satyam and HCL Tech are trading firm with gains of 3% each at Rs 188 (up Rs 5) and Rs 163 (up Rs 4), respectively. Infosys is still up a per cent (Rs 42) at Rs 3,447.

ITC is trading stronger by 2% (Rs 18) to Rs 754. Reliance, too, has bounced back from a flat note, and is now up Rs 4 at Rs 341. HLL, however, has lost Rs 2 to Rs 164.

Bajaj has gained 2% (Rs 12) to Rs 563. Telco has spurted 3% (Rs 6) to Rs 220. Hero Honda, however, continues to trade on a weaker note with a loss of 8% (Rs 22) at Rs 241.

Glaxo has advanced 2% (Rs 8) to Rs 369. Ranbaxy has gained Rs 5 to Rs 832. Cipla is trading in a narrow range at Rs 826, up Rs 3. Dr. Reddy's has shed 2% (Rs 20) to Rs 1,166.

Tisco has surged 4% (Rs 8) to Rs 199, and Zee is up Rs 2 at Rs 115. ICICI Bank, too, has edged up further by 2% (Rs 3) to Rs 163.

Corporation Bank has upsurged 11% (Rs 20) to Rs 194 on sustained buying interest. Federal Bank has moved up 8% (Rs 13) to Rs 163. Kotak Bank, too, has gained 5% (Rs 9) to Rs 183.

BPCL and Nalco have shed 5% each to Rs 279 (down Rs 15) and Rs 108 (down Rs 5), respectively. While RCF has lost 3% to Rs 37, Container Corporation and STC are down a per cent each at Rs 355 (down Rs 5) and Rs 105, respectively. EIL, too, is down a per cent (Rs 2) at Rs 310.

Market @1305: Sensex gains further ground; Satyam up 2%

The Sensex has notched up further gains on renewed buying support in cement, heavyweights, techs and auto stocks, and has moved past 3,700-mark.

It is now up 16 points at 3,703. The Nifty, too, has drifted into positive zone, and is now up four points at 1,164.

Gujarat Ambuja has advanced 3% (Rs 6) to Rs 207. While ACC has gained further ground on buying support with a gain of 3% (Rs 5) at Rs 183, Grasim also is up a per cent (Rs 6) at Rs 506. L&T, too, is up a tad at Rs 272.

HCL Tech has edged up by 4% (Rs 6) to Rs 164. While Satyam has gained 2% (Rs 4) to Rs 187, Infosys, too, is trading with marginal gains of Rs 29 at Rs 3,433.

ITC, after a weak close yesterday, has clocked 2% gains (Rs 14) to Rs 750 on sustained buying support. Reliance, too, is trading with gains at Rs 340, up Rs 2. HLL's weak trend continues as the FMCG major now has shed 2% (Rs 4) to Rs 163.

Bajaj has added 2% (Rs 13) to Rs 564. Telco, too, is trading in the green at Rs 217, up Rs 3. Hero Honda, however, is still trading in the losers list at Rs 242 - down Rs 20 or 8%.

Ranbaxy is trading with steady gains at Rs 832 - up Rs 6. While Cipla is marginally up Rs 2 at Rs 825, Dr. Reddy's is still trading lower by Rs 12 at Rs 1,174. Glaxo is unchanged with gains of Rs 3 at Rs 364.

Tisco has mopped up 2% gains (Rs 4) to Rs 195. ICICI Bank and Zee are still up a rupee each at Rs 161 and Rs 115, respectively.

Hughes Software has upped its gains by 9% (Rs 23) to Rs 281, after reporting a 245% increase in net profit at Rs 15.20 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2003. Visual Software has gained 6% (Rs 9) to Rs 157.

Market @1105: Hughes Soft up 8% on Q1 result

The Sensex has bounced back into positive zone, after a sharp selling in old and new economy stocks in early morning deals saw the index slip into negative zone. The Sensex is now up three points at 3,689. The Nifty, however, is still weak at 1,158 - down two points.

HCL Tech has advanced 3% (Rs 5) to Rs 164. Infosys is holding on to its gains at Rs 3,426 - up Rs 22. Satyam, too, is trading marginally higher at Rs 185, up Rs 2.

ITC has added Rs 7 to Rs 743. HLL and Reliance are languishing in negative territory at Rs 164 (down Rs 3) and Rs 337, respectively.

HPCL is quoted at Rs 348, down Rs 3, and MTNL is down a rupee at Rs 112. SBI and BHEL are up a rupee at Rs 411 and Rs 283, respectively.

Glaxo has gained Rs 4 to Rs 364. Ranbaxy and Cipla are trading with marginal gains of Rs 2 each at Rs 829 and Rs 825, respectively. Dr. Reddy's, however, has lost Rs 15 to Rs 1,171 on selling pressure.

Gujarat Ambuja and ACC are marginally up Rs 2 each at Rs 203 and Rs 179, respectively. Grasim and L&T, however, are down a notch each at Rs 500 and Rs 271, respectively.

Hero Honda has come under heavy selling pressure in the morning deals with a loss of 8% (Rs 20) at Rs 242.

Hindalco and HDFC are trading in the green at Rs 780 (up Rs 6) and Rs 407 (up Rs 3), respectively. Tisco and ICICI Bank, too, are trading with gains at Rs 194 and Rs 160, respectively.

Hughes Software has advanced 8% (Rs 20) to Rs 279, after reporting a 245% increase in net profit at Rs 15.20 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2003 as against Rs 4.40 crore in Q1FY03.

i-flex has surged 7% (Rs 78) to Rs 1,211 on sustained buying support. Visual Software has moved up 6% (Rs 8) to Rs 156. Mastek is up 3% (Rs 7) at Rs 217. Wipro and Digital, too, are up a per cent each at Rs 961 (up Rs 14) and Rs 473 (up Rs 6), respectively.

Federal Bank has gained 4% (Rs 5) to Rs 156. IDBI Bank and Vijaya Bank are up 3% each at Rs 32 and Rs 29, respectively on buying support. PNB and BoI have gained 2% each to Rs 180 (up Rs 4) and Rs 50, respectively. Kotak Bank, too, is up a per cent at Rs 175.

Nalco has dropped 7% (Rs 8) to Rs 105. While BPCL has shed 5% (Rs 16) to Rs 279, RCF is down 4% at Rs 37 on sustained selling pressure. EIL and ICI, too, are trading at lower levels at Rs 309 (down Rs 4) and Rs 132 (down Rs 2), respectively. ONGC and IOC, however, are up a per cent each at Rs 476 (up Rs 7) and Rs 411 (up Rs 3), respectively.

Market @1005: Techs up; RIL, HLL weak

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 16 points at 3,702. It is now down 16 points at 3,670.

Hero Honda has slipped 8% (Rs 21) to Rs 242.

Infosys is up a per cent (Rs 46) at Rs 3450. Satyam and HCL are also in positive zones.

HLL has declined 2% (Rs 3) to Rs 163. Reliance is down Rs 2 at Rs 336.

SBI has slipped Rs 3 to Rs 407. HPCL, BHEL are also weak.

Cement and pharma frontliners are divergent.
