July 17, 2003 13:27 IST
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has decided not to charge any rent from telephone subscribers for the period of disconnection of their telephones.
Subscribers can also get re-connection without the full payment of their bills.
Disclosing this, R C Hooda, general manager telecom Sonepat district, told mediapersons on Thursday that if any subscriber is inclined to take advantage of this scheme he should make payment of the amount outstanding against him in monthly installments.
If the first instalment is paid he can get the telephone connection without the STD facility. The STD facility, he said, would be given after the clearance of all the dues pending against him.
He said that this scheme would continue till September 30.
He also disclosed that the BSNL is providing Cell One mobile telephone connection free of cost to a subscriber who has already one such mobile connection.
If any basic telephone subscriber wanted to get a Cell One mobile connection on his own name or in the name of his family member he could get two connections for Rs 200 only and this scheme would continue until July 31, he added.
