RailTel OFC backbone launched

Electronics Corporation of India Limited on Thursday announced the successful system integration of the high-speed optical fibre cable backbone network for RailTel, the telecom subsidiary of Indian Railways.
The OFC-based project was commissioned by the Union Minister of Railways, Nitish Kumar, in Bangalore.
With Thursday's commissioning the STM 4 ring covering Bangalore-Dharmavarm-Gooty- Wadi - Vikarabad – Secunderabad - Guntur - Vijayawada - Gudur - Chennai - Arakkonam – Renigunta - Gooty – Guntakal goes live.
While STM-4 in the Virar-Surat section has also been completed and Delhi- Jaipur section is under installation and will go live shortly.
This phase covers a total of 411 stations across the country. As a part of the implementation, the public sector major ECIL has integrated high technology SDH / PDH equipment supplied by TEJAS its partner, in integrating the defence components and managing the network.
