Notwithstanding the current Malaysian imbroglio involving Indian IT workers, India's software and services exports to that country stood at just Rs 70 crore in 2001-02.
"India's softwore exports and services exports to Malaysia in 2001-02 stood at Rs 70 crore", Nasscom sources said, adding that business impact of the incident is zero.
However, details on the number of companies being present there and the IT professionals is being ascertained by the industry association Nasscom.
Throwing light on the recent development, sources said the export amount is not very big so there was no cause of concern but the attitude of the local authorities mattered a lot in building a long term rleationship in such places especially South East Asia.
In the recent past, Chennai based Polaris Software Labs' CMD and his colleague were detained by the Indonesian police while they were in that country to settle a commercial dispute and were freed only after diplomatic interventation.
In the current fiscal, Asia Pacific excluding Japan is expected to account for 3.2 per cent of the total IT services and business process outsourcing exports from 2.8 per cent in 2001-02.
