Jet Airways announces hike in fares
March 24, 2003 17:54 IST
Close on the heels of Indian Airlines' decision, Jet Airways has decided to hike fares by 15 per cent from March 26.
"This revision of fares has been necessitated due to the 44 per cent hike in the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel as also steep rise in other costs," the private airliner said in a press release on Monday.
In addition to an increase in normal fares, there would be a proportional revision in Indian rupee fares such as promotional, return excursion, point-to-point and the 'Everyone Can Fly Scheme', hiked its fares by 15 per cent across the board from March 26 due to massive increase in the prices of ATF.
Tickets issued or reissued before March 25 on the existing fares would be valid for travel provided the journey commences on or before March 31, the airline said.
A passenger who has commenced the journey would be able to complete it at the pre-revised rates within the validity period of the tickets. However, for tickets reissued on or after March 26 for any change in travel date, routing or class of travel, the passenger would have to pay the difference in fares, it said.
Tickets issued under 'Everyone Can Fly Scheme' on or after March 26 for travel commencing on or after April 10 would be on the revised fares, it added.
