IA announces special discounts

BS Economy Bureau in New Delhi | May 06, 2003 13:25 IST

The state-owned domestic carrier, Indian Airlines, has said it would launch promotional schemes for the forthcoming holiday season. This comes on the heels of Jet Airways announcing its super advanced purchase excursion (apex) fares.

Meanwhile, Indian Airlines introduced two new schemes, round trip promotional fare and point-to-point fare.

The round trip promotional fare scheme offers fare cuts ranging between 18 per cent and 28 per cent, while the point-to-point fare scheme has a 9 per cent discount on select sectors.

The round trip fare is valid in the Delhi-Lucknow, Delhi-Pune and Delhi-Vadodara sectors. In the Delhi-Lucknow sector, a passenger can save up to 20 per cent, with the round trip fare priced at Rs 6,170.

In the Delhi-Pune sector, the fare is Rs 12,930, amounting to a 28 per cent discount, while there is an 18 per cent discount in the Delhi-Vadodara sector. This is valid up to July 31, 2003.

As part of its point-to-point fare scheme, Indian Airlines is offering a 9 per cent discount in the Lucknow-Chennai and Lucknow-Bangalore sectors.

The fare in the Lucknow-Chennai sector is Rs 13,750, while a ticket in the Lucknow-Bangalore sector will cost Rs 13,465.

Indian Airlines has also introduced holiday packages to Jammu and Kashmir and Kathmandu. The branded packages called Flyaways include tie-ups with hotels.

The Indian Airlines Taj offer has also been extended by the airline up to September 30, 2003.
