CII lauds Indo-Afghan PTA

May 17, 2003 19:43 IST

Confederation of India Industry on Saturday welcomed the signing of Preferential Trade Agreement between India and Afghanistan and said this would facilitate easy flow of goods between the two countries.

The PTA would provide the much-needed impetus to bilateral economic and trade relations, CII said in a release.

Bilateral trade has shown signs of revival in the recent times, particularly after the establishment of economic and commercial ties between the two nations.

To tap the Afghan market, CII had organised a trade show in Afghanistan in September last year and has been advocating finding ways to access the markets and easing the channels of conducting business.

The chamber has further lined up a series of sector specific shows including healthcare, agriculture and construction shows, in Afghanistan aimed at reconstruction of the war-ravaged country.
