IDBI Bank acting CEO resigns

October 06, 2003 17:34 IST

IDBI Bank's acting chief executive officer and country head of retail banking Ajay Bimbhet has resigned.

Bimbhet had expressed his desire to resign from services of the bank and the same had been accepted by the board on Monday, IDBI Bank informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

He would continue as acting CEO during the notice period or till the time a new managing director and CEO is appointed, it added.

According to banking sources, Bimbhet is expected to take up an assignment with a Gulf-based bank.

In August, Gunit Chaddha, the then MD and CEO, had resigned to move to Deutsche Bank as country head.

IDBI, the parent of the banking entity, had set up a search panel to appoint a new MD and CEO following Chaddha's resignation.

Bimbhet was handed over the acting charge in September.
