Infosys hires 2,025 employees in Q2

Software major Infosys Technologies on Friday said it has hired 2,025 employees for its software operations and business process outsourcing subsidiary Progeon during the second quarter between July and September 2003.

The company now has a total employee strength of over 20,158 professionals with the gross addition of 2,845 employees, it said in a statement to the Bangalore Stock Exchange.

Nearly 820 professionals left the firm during the three-month period.

"Our net addition of 2,025 employees during this quarter has been the highest," S D Shibulal, director and head -- worldwide customer delivery, Infosys, said.

"Our initiatives to increase offshore revenue are yielding results," he said.

S Gopalakrishnan, director and COO, Infosys, said the company was strengthening its client relationship management framework.

"We have added several strategic clients which have the potential to grow into multi-million dollar accounts," he said.

Infosys has added 29 new clients during the third quarter but did not name them in the statement.

"We see increased acceptance of the outsourcing model from our clients and we continue to focus on providing enhanced customer value," worldwide sales head and senior vice president Basab Pradhan said.
