'Make India an economic superpower'
September 13, 2003 19:25 IST
Describing India as a 'land of great opportunities', Reliance Group managing director Anil Ambani on Saturday exhorted the aspiring entrepreneurs to take inspiration from his late father Dhirubhai Ambani and pick up the challenge to "make the nation an economic superpower."
"Each one of us must take inspiration from Dhirubhai's extraordinary life and challenge ourselves to build on his achievements and fulfill his desire to make India an economic superpower," Ambani said delivering the convocation address at the city-based Entrepreneurship Development Institute in Ahmedabad.
"India is a land of great opportunities that are perhaps incomparable in the world. The world's eyes are on India, new business opportunities are unlimited and economic reforms have unshackled the chains on creativity and innovation," he said.
Stating that the domestic consumption in all sectors has the potential to at least double or treble and perhaps to catch up with China, the Reliance MD said, "Made In India tag is now an increasingly respected brand, valued for quality, reliability and competitiveness."
Ambani described how Dhirubhai, from a mere petrol pump attender in Yemen and just Rs 500 in pocket, created Reliance, "with a vision, faith in demand potential of Indian markets, belief in capabilities of Indians and burning desire."
