Laloo, Surjeet ride the road of friendship

The Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Communist Party of India-Marxist, at loggerheads for the last one year, appear to be bridging their differences.

The former, thus, has extended support to the latter's candidate in Bihar's Purnea assembly constituency, which goes to poll on November 25.

The RJD's stand in this by-election assumes significance in the national politics as the CPI-M is trying to forge a third front with it, despite the fact that its own state unit is completely opposed to the RJD.

The RJD's gesture, sources said, would go a long way in bridging the differences that have cropped up between the two over the fodder scam.

They said Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi was likely to campaign for the CPI-M candidate.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha president Mulayam Singh Yadav and CPI-M general secretary Harkishen Singh Surjeet propose to campaign in Purnea for the CPI-M candidate. This is expected to remove irritants and assist the forging of the third front.
