VHP claims Hinduism is in dangerThe Vishwa Hindu Parishad's national convenor, Acharya Dharmendra, described India's present political scenario as very critical and "posing a threat to the very existence of Hindus and Hindustan". Addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, Dharmendra said present-day politicians are under the influence of Western culture and act according to the pressures exerted by the West. He said the government should make it clear to the world that "the problems we are facing in Ahwa, in Dangs district of south Gujarat, are our internal matters and no entity has any right to interfere in them". The government must act in a way that such issues do not draw the attention of the international community, he said. The VHP convenor further alleged that representatives of Christianity and Islam are propagating their religions to such an extent that the people of other religions are finding it difficult to survive.
