Dangs reverts to normalcy

No untoward incident was reported from any part of the sleepy tribal district of Dangs yesterday. The situation was peaceful and well under control, district Superintendent of Police Manoj Sashidhar said today.

Manoj said the district being very hilly and forested, the police were facing problems in policing the 311 villages spread out in the tough terrain with the existing police force available to the district.

He said he had requisitioned additional three companies of State Reserve Police Force for deployment to the remote villages because the attackers were now concentrating on the remote villages which were unprotected. However, he said police patrolling in each village is still continuing.

Manoj said two more companies of SRP will soon join the Dangs police force so that isolated incidents can also checked effectively.

He visited both Dudha and Lahancharia villages, where the revived attack on prayer halls occurred after a ten-day normalcy, and persuaded both Hindus and Christians to repair the partially damaged prayers halls. He said that in Dudha, the alertness of the villagers minimised the damage where only a pole of the prayer hall was blackened.
