HC adjourns Mani's bail
application to Nov 18

Efforts to send Tamil nationalist leader Kolathur Mani to forest bandit Veerappan's jungle hideout to negotiate the release of former Karnataka minister H Nagappa suffered yet another blow on Thursday when the Karnataka high court adjourned the hearing of Mani's bail application to November 18.

Mani, who recently secured a bail in a case filed under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act, has four more cases pending against him.

In his last message, the forest brigand had asked the Karnataka government to send either Mani or Minister for Food Processing Raju Gowda as emissaries to his jungle hideout.

The state government has dismissed the possibility of deputing Gowda as an emissary declaring that it would not send any minister or legislator for negotiations with the bandit.

Meanwhile, Nagappa's wife, Parimala, met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Wednesday and sought her cooperation in securing her husband's safe release.
