Suicide strike in Kupwara, 3 dead

Two Central Reserve Police Force men and a Pakistani terrorist were killed and six security personnel injured in a suicide attack in Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday, sources said.

Three terrorists came to Haihama Chowk and attacked joint troops of the army, police and the CRPF near a bank, the sources said.

The troops retaliated as the terrorists fired indiscriminately and hurled grenades.

A CRPF jawan, P Prasad, and a terrorist, Mohammed Ibrahim, were killed instantly and 7 security personnel were wounded.

One jawan, who was not identified, succumbed to injuries in hospital. The other two terrorists escaped.

The Al-Nasireen claimed responsibility for the attack.

The injured were identified as constables Wilson and Farooq Ahmad, special police officers Mushtaq Ahmad and Gul Gulzaman, jawan Ramaswami and havaldar V E Pandey, the sources said.
