May 16, 2003 18:08 IST
National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra on Friday briefed Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the talks he had with United States President George W Bush and other American leaders during his recent visit to Washington.
During the hour-long meeting with Vajpayee, who is on a holiday in Manali, Mishra also briefed him on the talks he had with British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Foreign Policy Adviser David Manning in London.
In London, Mishra met US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, who was on his way to India and Pakistan.
After holding talks with his US counterpart Condoleeza Rice in the White House on May 8, Mishra met Bush for a 15-minute 'substantive' meeting focusing on the fresh Indo-Pak peace moves.
Bush praised Vajpayee's initiatives and noted the deepening of friendship between India and the US. Mishra, who had also held talks with Secretary of State Colin Powell, renewed the invitation to Bush to visit India. Bush had told him that he was keen to visit India but could not say when it could take place.
