Combined Defence Services Examination 2004

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Combined Defence Services Examination 2004 on February 15, 2004 for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy for the courses commencing in January 2005 and Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the course commencing in April 2005.
For details regarding the eligibility, syllabus and scheme of the examination, centres of examination, guidelines for filling up application form etc. aspirants must consult the detailed notice of the examination published in the Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated September 13, 2003.
Conditions of Eligibility:
Age Limit, Sex and Marital Status:
For Indian Military Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than January 2, 1981 and not later than January 1, 1986 only are eligible.
For Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than January 2, 1983 (January 2, 1981 in case of NCC 'C' certificate Naval Wing holders) and not later than January 1, 1986 only are eligible.
For Air Force Academy: Unmarried Male candidates born not earlier than January 2, 1982 and not later than January 1, 1986 only are eligible.
For Officers' Training Academy: Male candidates (married or unmarried) born not earlier than January 2, 1980 and not later than January 1, 1986 only are eligible.
Educational Qualifications:
For Indian Military Academy and Officers Training Academy: Degree of a recognized university or equivalent.
For Naval Academy: BSc (with Physics & Mathematics) or Bachelor of Engineering.
For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Candidates who are studying in final year degree course and have yet to pass final year degree examination or equivalent examination can also apply for examination, but they will be required to submit proof of passing of the degree examination by the following dates failing which their candidature will stand cancelled:
For admission to IMA, Naval and Air Force Academy on or before November 15, 2004.
For admission to Officers Training Academy, Chennai on or before January 15, 2005.
Physical Standards:
Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to Combined Defence Service Examination (I), 2004 as given in Appendix V of Commission's Notice for Examination published in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated September 13, 2003.
Application Form: The candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix-III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs 20 only. Each such form can be used only once and only for one examination.
In case of any difficulty in obtaining the application forms from the designated HPOs/POs the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC 'Forms Supply Monitoring Cell' over telephone 011-23389366. Fax: 011-23387310.
Fee: Rs 100 through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of fees. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fees).
Address and last date for receipt of applications: All applications must reach the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi 110069 either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the October 13, 2003.
However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in the Notice the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by hand or by courier) is October 20, 2003.
Facilitation counter and website for guidance of candidates: In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding their applications, candidature can contact UPSC's Facilitation Counter near 'C' Gate of its campus in person or over telephone 011-23385271, 011-23381125 on working days between 1000 hours to 1700 hours.
The Commission also has a web site http://www.upsc.gov.in over which candidates can obtain details of the examination as well as information about registration of their applications, venue of the examination and result etc.
