October 13, 2003 17:21 IST

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Monday said the success of his government was mainly because of the cooperation of the parties in the National Democratic Alliance in which the Bharatiya Janata Party is also a partner.

Thanking top NDA leaders, who felicitated him on the occasion of completion of four years of NDA government at the Centre, he said the BJP, with a sizeable number of MPs, provided an opportunity to all parties to join and provide an alternative.

Observing the country was at a turning point, Vajpayee said the people gave the coalition a chance to serve them and the success of the government was due to the cooperation of all.

Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani presented a shawl and BJP chief M Venkaiah Naidu garlanded Vajpayee at his Race Course Road residence as Cabinet ministers and leaders of other NDA partners greeted the prime minister.

Among others who greeted Vajpayee on the occasion include Samata Party leader and NDA convener George Fernandes, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader T R Baalu and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leaders M Kannappan and  Gingee Ramachandran.
