Evidence of Pak role in J&K terrorism: UK

September 26, 2003 18:09 IST

The United Kingdom on Friday said there is evidence of Pakistan's role in sponsoring terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

"The documents and other proof show active involvement of Pakistan in sponsoring terrorism in the state," its Chief of
Defence Staff General Michael Walker told reporters after meeting General Officer Commanding of Srinagar-based 15 Corp Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma in Srinagar.

He said Britain is facing a similar terrorist campaign as India and both countries are looking for common threads to deal with the situation.

Briefing Walker about the prevailing situation in the Kashmir valley, Sharma said there is no let up in infiltration from across the border.

However, he said army is conducting successful anti-terrorist operations along the Line of Control as well as in the Valley.
