Former Pattali Makkal Katchi legislator Murugavelrajan, who had joined All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam a few months back, has quit the Jayalalithaa-led outfit to launch his Peoples Liberation Party, which would contest from 100 constituencies.

He told reporters Tuesday the ruling AIADMK was adopting a "divide and rule" policy among the dalits.

Murugavelrajan "vowed" to defeat AIADMK in the May 8 Assembly polls and said PLP would contest from 100 constituencies.

He said he felt like a "prisoner" in the AIADMK, a charge which he had levelled against the PMK also.
