The government and the Communist Party of India-Marxist on Thursday held talks over the India-United States nuclear deal as senior Left leader Sitaram Yechury met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images].

Yechury met Singh a day after the Left parties demanded that the government make it formally known that no talks will be held with nuclear watchdog, IAEA, over the nuclear deal.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister A K Antony and Political Secretary to the Congress president Ahmed Patel were also present during the meeting.

Prior to the meeting, the prime minister held consultations with United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi [Images].
