The country's top atomic scientist Anil Kakodkar on Wednesday said he was hopeful that the Indo-US civil nuclear deal will get through.

"I am hopeful," he told reporters outside Parliament when asked whether he felt that the nuclear deal will get through.

The nuclear deal has raked up a political controversy in the country with the Bharatiya Janata Party and Left parties, key allies of the ruling United Progressive Alliance, voicing their strident opposition to theagreement.
