Coming close on the heels of the recovery of charred bones and portions of skulls from five graves, the CBI has found more bones from a canal near a village at Nandigram [Images].

"We have cast a net in the Talpati canal in Bhangabera village, from where we have recovered some bones," CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar said over phone from Nandigram on Saturday.

It was, however, not clear whether the bones were of humans or animals. The bones have been sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory for examination, he said.

Bones were recovered on Wednesday and Thursday also, he said.

On Thursday charred bones and portions of skulls were exhumed from five graves at Bidyapith village in adjacent Khejuri, a Communist Party of India-Marxist stronghold.

Bhangabera and Khejuri are a few km apart.
