Former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, who arrived in Chennai last night, had to be shifted to Raj Bhavan from Anna University campus, where he was scheduled to stay, due to power failure in the area.
University Vice-Chancellor D Viswanathan told PTI that there was a sudden power cut in the area as soon as Dr Kalam arrived.
As Kalam wanted to prepare for a lecture to be delivered at the university today, he went to Raj Bhavan, which was
nearby, for the night, Viswanathan said.
However, power was restored within minutes of his departure to Raj Bhavan, he added.
Kalam is scheduled to speak among the faculty staff of the university today morning, meet the research students in the afternoon and interact with undergraduate students in the evening. He would leave for Gandhi Gram Deemed University at Dindugul in the night, where he would be addressing students tomorrow.
