The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party attacked the United Progressive Alliance government on all its policies in its national council meeting in New Delhi, but was silent on the India-United States civil nuclear agreement, which it has been strongly opposing.

In his presidential address at the two-day BJP national council meeting, which began on Monday, party president Rajnath Singh came down heavily on the Congress-led UPA government on all its policies and programmes.

From 'pitiable conditions of farmers' to 'directionless economic policy' to 'minority appeasement' and terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir [Images], North East, 'insult to Hindu religion and culture' and women's reservation, he criticised the UPA government for 'numerous hardships' faced by the common man.

Singh also spoke about the 'unstable' Indian sub-continent and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's [Images] recent visit to China.

However, he did not mention a single word about the Indo-US civil nuclear agreement, a deal which the BJP strongly opposed in and outside parliament.
