PSV Eindhoven forward Arjen Robben will join Chelsea for 12 million pounds ($22.42 million) at the end of this season, the English premier league club said on Tuesday.

Dutch news agency ANP reported on Monday that the 20-year-old Dutch international had agreed a five-year contract with Chelsea and the premier league club confirmed they were in talks with PSV over a deal.

The west London club have spent more than 100 million pounds on players since being taken over by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich last year.

English champions Manchester United last month failed to reach an agreement with PSV over the transfer of the pacy winger, who manager Alex Ferguson saw as a long-term replacement for Ryan Giggs.

Robben, who joined PSV from Groningen in 2002, has won four caps and scored twice including the winner for the Dutch in a friendly international against the United States last month.

PSV said on Sunday they were close to striking a cooperation deal with Chelsea which would resemble the arrangement Manchester United signed with Belgian club Antwerp in 1998.
