VVS Laxman (79*) made his highest score against Pakistan, bettering his 71 at Rawalpindi last year. Anil Kumble's [Images] 22 is the second highest score by a number 11 Indian batsman against Pakistan after Ghulam [Images] Ahmed's 50 in the first ever Test between these two sides at Delhi in 1952-53. The tenth wicket partnership of 53 runs between VVS Laxman and Anil Kumble is India's third best against Pakistan. For the seventh consecutive time India posted a 400-plus total in the first innings of a Test. The sequence started against South Africa at Kanpur last year. India had also seven consecutive 400-plus totals in first innings of a Test in 1986-87 season. In all Test cricket there has been only one performance better than India's this performance. Australia, in between 1988-89 and 1989-90 had nine consecutive 400-plus first innings scores. Danish Kaneria (5-127) took his tenth five-for in Test cricket -- second against India after his 6 for 150 in the first innings of Mohali Test of the current series. Shahid Afridi [Images] raced to his fifty off only 26 balls, which is the fastest by a Pakistani batsman. The previous record was held by Yousuf Youhana with a 27-ball fifty against South Africa at Cape Town in 2002-03. Only Jacques Kallis [Images] (v Zimbabwe at Cape Town recently) has scored a faster fifty in Test cricket. Younis Khan (84*) took his match aggregate to 351 -- the highest in India-Pakistan matches. The previous record was of 309 runs held by Virender Sehwag [Images] by virtue of his epic innings at Multan last year. The previous record of most runs in a match for a Pakistani batsman was of 280 runs and was held by Javed Miandad, who likewise Sehwag played only one innings. Younis' match aggregate is also the second highest for Pakistan after Hanif Mohammad's 354 (17 + 337) against West Indies [Images] at Bridgetown in 1957-58. Younis' performance is second best by a batsman in a match against India after Graham Gooch's 456 (333 & 123) for England [Images] at Lord's in 1990. Incidentally the previous highest match aggregate by a batsman on Indian soil was 340 (59 & 281) by VVS Laxman against Australia at Calcutta in 2000-01. Younis Khan ended the series with an aggregate of 508 runs (ave.101.60), thus becoming the second Pakistani batsman to aggregate 500 or more runs in a three-Test series against India. Zaheer Abbas (583 at an average of 194.33) had performed the feat in the 1978-79 series. Pakistan made their runs at a rate of 5.22 runs per over in the second innings, which is the third best in an innings of 200 or more in all Test cricket. Only South Africa (6.80,340 for three in 50 overs v Zimbabwe at Cape Town in 2004-05) and Sri Lanka [Images] (5.36, 555 for five in 103.3 overs v Bangladesh at Colombo SSC in 2001-02) have managed a higher run-rate. Pakistan's match aggregate of 831 runs (570 & 261-2) is the second highest against India in India after Zimbabwe's 885 for 16 (382 & 503-6) at Nagpur in 2000-01. Irfan Pathan [Images] conceded 45 runs in his five overs, which is the worst bowling performance by any bowler in Test cricket bowling exactly five overs in an innings. Interestingly the previous record was also held by an Indian. Sourav Ganguly [Images] had conceded 42 runs in his five overs against England at Nottingham in 2002. Anil Kumble achieved the dubious distinction of conceding most runs off his bowling for India against Pakistan. His 247 runs in this match (159 + 88) bettered his own 236 (76 + 160) in the first Test of this series at Mohali). Also read: - Statistical highlights, Day 2 - Statistical highlights, Day 1
